First Due Electrical / Bed Fire - Starview Mobile Home Park 1/23/12

At 7:47pm on 1/23/12 Eagle Fire Company was dispatched to a Residential Structure Fire on Liberty Drive in Starview Mobile Home Park.  Engiine 22-1 which was only 1 mile away returning from standby coverage at Hellam Fire Company arrived on scene within 1 1/2 minutes.  Engine 22-1 stretched a 200' 1 3/4" crosslay to the front door and made entry to investigate with a 20lb dry chemical extinguisher after the homeowner advised that she thought it may be an electrical fire.  Chief 22 (Brenneman) established Liberty Drive command.  Chief 22-2 (Kane) was assigned as accountability officer.  Firefighter J. Bush had the knock down with the extinguisher and interior crews started to remove a bed that became involved due to it being up against the outlet that was sparking.  Engine 22-2 arrived on scene with Tanker 22 and began to set up portable tank operations due to the mobile home park not having access to any fire hydrants.  Engine 23-2 (Manchester) arrived on scene and provided additional manpower to exterior side Charlie and Chief 23-2 took up interior.  Truck 24 (Manchester Twp) arrived and secured all utilities to the home enabling a safe overhaul operation of the involved bedroom.  Engine 24 (Manchester Twp) arrived and provided RIT / Manpower.  The affected section of the wall was was removed as well as the insulation around it that was also burnt.  The homeowner was able to reoccupy the home after board up of the bedroom window and shutting off the affected room's outlet.  Eagle Fire Company also delivered 4 new smoke detectors to the homeowner to replace the one's that went off in the home as well as add some additional one's in each bedroom.  Eagle Fire Company reminds any resident of East Manchester Township or Mount Wolf Borough that we have free smoke detectors and batteries to anyone in need.  Please contact the station if you would like to request some for your home.

Saying Goodbye To Firefighter Mike Enochs - Hellam Fire Company Station 21

Eagle Fire Company sends it's condolences to Hellam Fire Company and Wrightsville Fire Company on the loss of a great brother and friend Mike Enochs.  Firefighter Enochs lost his battle with cancer this past week.  His life was cut short, but while he was here filled his friends and family with good memories and laughter.  We were privileged enough to provide standby support for Station 21 while they paid their respects and had one last time to say goodbye.  There is no doubt by the stories told at the ceremony of life that he will never be forgotten.  Rest in peace brother.

Snow Arrives For Chicken

At Eagle Fire Company, we are serious about good GREAT chicken BBQ.  We will not let rain, sleet, hail, flooding nor snow stop us from making your favorite lunch.  Your hard working volunteers braved the weather to serve you up the last delicious BBQ you will have for the rest of the year.  Thank you to all who also braved the weather and came out to pick some up.  We did extremely well considering the weather we were having.  We served over 200 meals and ran a total of 5 calls.  Luckily for all there were no reported injuries from accidents and it was mostly dealing with downed electrical power lines.  We will see you on Monday night for some treat or treat!

2 More Firefighters Pass National Firefighter 1 Certification

Eagle Fire Company would like to congratulate Firefighters Jason Johnson and Chuck Yingling for passing Firefighter 1 Certification at HACC this past weekend.  They have both spent tens of hours preparing to take the written and hands on tests.  Our 3rd firefighter Jake Bush completed and passed his hands on test and will complete his written test on November 7th.  Congratulations to Jason and Chuck, Good Luck to Jake!

Eagle Fire Company now has four personnel certified to Firefighter 2 level and five personnel certified to Firefighter 1 level.  We expect an additional 4 members to complete Firefighter 1 in the spring.
